Cam Broten MLA

Cam Broten loves Saskatchewan and is fully dedicated to ensuring that our best days as a province are ahead of us.

Cam’s roots in Saskatchewan run deep. As the son of a teacher and social worker, and as the grandson of a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Hans Broten, who served alongside Premier Tommy Douglas and Premier Woodrow Lloyd, Cam grew up knowing the importance of making a difference and building a stronger Saskatchewan.

As the father of a young daughter, Cam is even more committed to building a bright future for all Saskatchewan children.

Cam was first elected as the MLA for Saskatoon Massey Place in November 2007. He was re-elected in November 2011. He currently serves as the Official Opposition Critic for Health, Seniors, Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration.

Cam is recognized as an effective MLA and a strong voice for his constituents and all Saskatchewan families. A political columnist noted Cam’s “passion and diligence” and pointed out that he doesn’t take the easy route of scoring “cheap political points,” but instead strives to do the right thing (The StarPhoenix, June 5, 2010). In recognition of his hard work and devotion to making a difference for people, Cam has been voted the Best Saskatoon MLA in the Planet S People's Choice ‘Best of Saskatoon’ Contests in October 2010 and October 2011.

Prior to becoming an MLA, Cam worked as a health policy manager for the Saskatchewan Medical Association and a policy analyst with Saskatchewan Culture, Youth and Recreation. He also served as an elected board member with the Saskatoon Co-op. Cam earned an International Studies degree at the University of Saskatchewan and a Master's degree in Political Science at Simon Fraser University.

Cam and his wife Ruth are active with their local church, a summer children’s camp and many community initiatives. They live in the Saskatoon Massey Place constituency with their daughter Ingrid and their dog Oscar.
